Kumite Jutsu
Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt)


1. Ming’s Sword. (A1-2,B,C). Right push.
A1.) Step forward with left to cat, left palm against right push, stopping it; cross back in advance 45° forward left with right, place right forearm over his right forearm, grab his right fingers with the left and bend them back, pull in to “Kenpo lock”; pivot and kneel with left.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’ until “Kenpo lock”; his arm straightens; pull right thumb against his right wrist, left elbow to inside of his right arm, pin right elbow to left side; rock, right hand up, left elbow down; kneel on left.
B.) Step forward with left to cat, stop push with left palm; he jerks right hand back, keep in contact, palm to palm, step forward with left, catch his right fingers with left, place right back of hand against back of his right hand; cross back in advance with right, switch right hand to wrist grip, pivot, corkscrew down, kneel with left.
C.) Step forward with left to fighting stance, left palm against his right palm; right 45° forearm strike to his right inside forearm; pull right elbow back, tight to side, squeeze armpit closed, bend our right wrist (palm up) over his arm; cross back left with the right; pivot 180° to kneeling stance with the left, left hand on fingertips, back of hand against his right elbow.


2. Path of the Leopard. Spinning kick.
Step forward with left, right Naihanchi kick his support leg; place both knife hands on back shoulder joints, stop his spin; circle right arm with right, move left to his right shoulder; right fist push against left forearm locking his right arm; step back left with right; pivot 275°, corkscrew down, kneel with left.


3. Chinese Pincers. (AB). Counter to nikyo.
A.) As his fingers come up over wrist, grab them with the left, pull them back and counter clockwise, with right on his wrist, left forearm on top of his right forearm; apply pressure, take down.
B.) Can’t grab fingers. Start as ‘A’ he closes fingers; catch his fist with left; step back with right to fighting stance, bring left arm over his right, twist his right hand counter clockwise, thumb down, elbow up, to side wrist lock, left elbow on his right elbow; swing left leg to the right, parallel to ground; drop straight down to ground, apply pressure to lock and his right elbow, rocking chest; pin arm or break elbow.


4. Wings of the Hawk. Back of the right elbow grab, from the front.
Step 45° forward with right to Naihanchi, lift right arm, pin his hand with left; bend and circle right arm counter clockwise, right forearm over his left, apply pressure to left wrist; step 45° left with left, drop to half bow, right arm 45° down to the left; break wrist.


5. Chinese Cobra. Right punch.
Step left with left to Naihanchi, double palm heel strike: left downward to wrist, right upward to elbow; step forward with right to fighting stance, right side elbow to right ribs, left palm on his back; left hand pulls his right arm down, right, palm up, one finger eye shot to right eye, over top of his right arm; pull his right arm and to the left, rotate hands counter clockwise, left to his right elbow crook, right to grip back of neck; left hand lifts his right arm, continue twisting him clockwise; shift 90º to left Bo, throw his head to left with the right, place his back on left knee; pin his right arm to

5. Chinese Cobra. Right punch.
your left side with left hand, retract right arm to strike; grab his right hand with right, twist to pin or break, keep his right elbow tight to your side with left arm.


6. Placing the Pin. Right punch.
Step forward with right to fighting stance, left - right brushing parry, step forward with left to Naihanchi, grab both shoulders, step back right - left and kneel with left; pull him down on right knee, break spine; slide hands to biceps, push down to pin; roll him to left, place him face down on ground; pull up on arms, knee on spine; slide hands up to wrists, pull up together; rise and place
right foot between shoulder blades, pull up to finish.


7. Circles of Fire. Left punch.
Step forward with the right to cat, left inward parry, right outward parry and catch left wrist, (continue motion counter clockwise) to left forearm strike, low across body (arm straight) to upper left elbow nerve, bend elbow; right arm small circle lock and squeeze; cross back in advance 45° right with left, pivot and take down.


8. Shaolin Warrior. Right punch.
Step forward 45° left with left to cat, left inward parry, right middle knuckle to heart point; left hand catch his right shoulder, kneel with left right foot behind his right foot; right back knuckle to back of his right knee, pull down with the left, straighten right foot, causing him to fall on back; right tiger claw to groin.


9. Flash of Light. Knife defenses.
A.) Hop forward with left to half bow, left inward parry, cut 45° up with right, between hip and floating ribs; reverse motion, lower body, cut right thigh tendons above knee; lift and spin 360° on left leg, cut neck or right arm.
B.) Hop left with left, shift right 90° right foot to cat; left inward parry right forearm, cut his right inside wrist with knife; maintain pin with left, step forward with right, thrust up under jaw to brain; rock and roll.
C.) Hop forward to bow with left, left inward parry right arm downward 45°, cut left side neck with knife; shift right 90° right foot to cat, maintain left hand on his right elbow, continue motion, right cut to crook of right arm; right thrust through the ribs to heart; right thrust to right side neck.


10. Offer of Dust. (A,B1-2,C1-2,D1-2). Pistol defenses.
A.) Forehead. This is done as one smooth movement. Both hands grab his hand/s and the pistol barrel, lower head and drop into Naihanchi; push muzzle up and twist back towards him; continue motion with hands forcing muzzle towards him and lower the arms to twist the pistol free from his grip.
B1.) Chest/face. Step forward with left, right shoulder and arm, back and left as much as possible, grab gun and hand with left pushing them to the right; step forward with the right, right hand grab the barrel and twist the pistol free; step back with right, adjust grip on the pistol, hold tight to right side.
B2.) Start as ‘B1’except grab the pistol, push down and in towards his stomach, twisting the pistol towards him; shuffle forwards, strike his face with the right, then grab the gun from underneath and twist it 180° to free it from his grip; rotate the gun back 90° to free his broken trigger finger, shuffle back; finish like ‘B1’.
C1.) Right front. Hop forward left side with left to Naihanchi, right shoulder and arm, back and left as much as possible, grab gun and hand with left; cross over in advance with right, behind his legs, right hand grabs his fingers and trigger housing; with both hands twist gun and hand counter clockwise to Ikkyo, wrist and elbow bent; place right finger on trigger or finger; pivot to Naihanchi, point gun at his face as he falls and fire; pull gun free og his hand.
when barrel is pointing at his head, press the trigger; continue pivot to bow stance; take down, disarm; right heel stomp on left arm, heart; drop right knee on solar plexus strike with right hand.
C2.) Left front. Start as ‘C1’except reverse; left outward parry, reach over top with right and grab gun and his hand; twist left hand and grab; forget trigger housing, rotate gun and hand clockwise; cross back with right, controlling barrel, (never points at you); pivot to fighting stance, barrel pointing up; twist gun forward out of his grip.
D1.) Gun in back. High. Pivot on right heel, left ball of foot, to 45° right forward twisted stance, right hand outward extended parry to his right forearm; slide right hand to gun and hand; step forward with the left to fighting stance, reach over top of his right wrist, grab gun and hand with left; finish like ‘C2 ’.
D2.) Low. Same as ‘D1’ except; right arm sweeps low rear across body.
